It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was out Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
